Beamish
Open Air Museum
On September 30th 1999 we visited Beamish
Open Air Museum as part of our history work on Victorian Britain.
Beamish is a living, working museum where you can
sample life as it was in the North East of England at the turn of the century.
During our
visit we met people from the past, travelled on a tram and a vintage bus,
went underground at the Drift Mine, sampled the sweets at the Jubilee Confectionery
and experienced a Victorian lesson at the Board School followed by playtime
with traditional playground games.
