Class 2 visit church
UNCRC 14 – Right to a religion
Today we visited church in Kimblesworth. We walked to church and visited Reverend Michael. He let us explore the church and find all of the features that we had learnt about in class. We went on a treasure hunt! He then talked to us about each feature and what it is used for. We had a lovely time!
Hoopstarz
Today we had lots of fun working with Tracey to learn lots of new skills and tricks with the hula hoop. We also built a house using only 6 hoops. We were then able to crawl through the house … it was very hard trying not to knock it down!
UNCRC 31 – Join in a range of activities.
Miss Grime’s Graduation Day
We hope Miss Grimes has a lovely graduation at Leeds University, celebrating her hard work in becoming a teacher.
Assembly with Rev Michael
Rev Michael came to school to do an assembly about harvest. We also learnt a new song. Jenson also showed us his football trophies for team work. Well done Jenson!
Tri-Golf tournament
Class 4 had a lovely time at a Tri-Golf festival at Maiden Castle. Mrs Shaw joined us too!
UNCRC article 31 – Children should have the right to join in a range of activities.
Science Club
Our first week at Science club is complete! We had lots of fun trying to build tall structures using only marshmallows and dry spaghetti! We had to do lots of investigating and shaping to get the right balance. Look at our fantastic models.
A special thank you to Amelia and Lacie Mae, our super Science ambassadors, who helped out with the club.
UNCRC 31 – Right to join in a range of activities.

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Policy
Tuesday 21st September 2021
Dear parents/carers,
We’ve been consulting with parents, pupils and staff to make sure our new relationships and sex education (RSE) curriculum meets the government’s requirements, as well as the needs of our pupils.
We’ve worked hard to make sure that our new curriculum reflects:
- Our pupils’ age and maturity levels, as well as their cultural and religious backgrounds
- The values of our school community
- Every pupil’s learning needs
- What pupils need to know to be healthy and safe in school, in their personal relationships and in the wider world
We’ve now updated our RSE policy to include our proposed new curriculum.
You’ll find a copy of our new draft policy attached to this letter. We’ve also made it available on our website at www.nettlesworth.durham.sch.uk
If you have any feedback on the proposed curriculum, and the wider policy, please contact Mrs D Lee on d.lee103@nettlesworth.durham.sch.uk
The deadline for responding to the consultation is Friday 24th September 2021.
Yours sincerely,
Donna Lee
Head Teacher
