Class 4 had an amazing time at the first sports festival of the year.
Here is what they had to say…..
Today, Friday 7th September, Year 6 had the pleasure to experience a Mini Olympics event at Maiden Castle in Durham. We were lucky to sample both fencing and athletics. Fortunately for us, we sampled Fencing first indoors (it was raining outside!). This was an unbelievable sport, using the correct equipment. Did you know the sword is actually called a Foil? After practising for 15 minutes, we all had a duel.
We sampled athletics outside on the 400m running track. This was an actual training track and the surface was quite soft! We practiced a few sprinting drills, followed by the very hard Elimination Race which is where we had to run around the track 3 times. There were teachers positioned at each corner of the track, and if you were last at these points, you were eliminated!
Well done to Alfie and Keira who were the first boy and girl from Nettlesworth.
