Stay ‘n’ Play
Class 1 have had so much fun in their topic ‘Castles’ this half term – we had even more fun when we inviting our parents to a stay ‘n’ play afternoon where we made crowns, shields and dressed up as our favourite kings/queens/knights and dragons! Thank you to all that attended, you made it an extremely enjoyable afternoon! 🙂
Chinese New Year
Class 1 and 2 celebrated Chinese New Year with an afternoon of crafts, music and food to celebrate entering the year of the ‘Pig’. It was so much fun to learn about the Chinese zodiac and work across both classrooms with friends from different year groups. Our favourite part was sampling the delicious Chinese foods! 🙂
This half term our EYFS children have chosen to learn about all things ‘castle’ related. We love our new role play area and hope to visit a real castle very soon! This also links nicely to the Year 1 History work all about the lives of significant people in the past – we have been looking at rich and poor people in Europe at the time of Pieter Bruegel.
Today, Class 1 and 2 had so much fun observing the effects of winter on the yard and field today! They made a special KS1 snowman, explored different footprints, made snow patterns and angels and had lots of fun with their friends from different year groups.
Believe in you-ELF
BREAKING NEWS! SANTA WAS IN THE BUILDING!
Santa has BEEN IN OUR SCHOOL! On Wednesday we came in to discover that each and every child had received a Santa’s letter and there was mysterious glitter footprints all around the classrooms – we believe the trail began from Class 1 where the window has been left open and footprints started from the window sill!!!
This week has also brought the invasion of the Elves to Nettlesworth! Each day we have seen these mischievous little elves causing havoc in each and every classroom! Will the mayhem ever end?!
DAY 1: He arrived spilling baubles EVERYWHERE! The classroom was covered in toilet roll too! After searching for this naughty elf we eventually found him hanging upside down from the Christmas tree!
DAY 2: He built a swing over night and was doing circus skills from it! Not to mention scribbling all over our class board and paper. We found a trail leading us to his name… BAUBLES! Not to mention flour being all over him and the classroom floor after playing snow angels in it!
DAY 3: Today we came into Peter the Polar Bear swinging from the trapeze swing – he looked terrified. Then we saw all of out toy animals tipped everywhere and Baubles the elf had 4 animals tied up pretending to walk them like dogs!
DAY 4: Bauble must have escaped the classroom and ransacked the kitchen because today he was covered in PVA glue and permanent marker after decorating all kinds of different fruits as humans! He had tipped every single pen pot over in doing so as well!
Today we had our Christmas party! We had so much fun getting dressed up with our friends after lunch. The hall was a winter wonderland with music, popcorn, candyfloss and even a visit from Santa Claus himself (for the second time this week). He even brought us all a selection box! We had such a great time dancing the afternoon away and playing party games.
Today we had our annual Christingle service held at our local church, it was great to see so many of you there! We have been working learning all about what Christmas means to Christians all around the world – and what the different parts of the Christingle orange represents to to some people.
The children had incorporated songs from both KS1 and KS2 performances and some traditional songs sending out the Christmas message at this time of year.
We even created a human-sized Christingle in the shape of Rev.Caroline to celebrate 50 years of Christingle services all around the world; in aid of ‘THE Children’s Society’ .
Such a magical end to a magical half term here at Nettlesworth! 🙂
Hooray for Prickly Hay!
Class 1 and 2 have worked extremely hard over the past 3 weeks, practising their Christmas Performance. We have finally performed to the whole school and our parents and put on a hoedown you’ll never forget!
MERRY CHRISTMAS 🙂
Letter to Santa
After finishing all of our letters to Santa we decided to walk round to the postbox and send them directly to the North Pole! We can’t wait for him to receive them! 🙂
Erica Headlam has passed her swimming exam and moved up to the next level. We are sooo proud of you well done!
