Good morning children,
Today we are continuing to recap phase 2 sounds, focusing on ten town number recognition and how they are formed, as well as labelling the different parts of a rocket.
-
- Literacy – Story Sequencing – Goldilocks and the 3 Bears
Get out your child’s work from previous day. Look at the sequencing, if it is sequenced incorrectly talk about the correct order of the story before starting todays activity. It would be great if you could read a different version of the story either online or if you have the book copy because today we are going to retell the story in our own words. Get your child to look at the pictures and using their own words retell the story. Adults scribe alongside so we can see the story and language used.
-
- Numeracy – What number is next?
Start by counting in 1’s up to 10, and then up to 20. Do this together with your child before letting them have a go independently. Talk about the word (more) what does it mean? The number gets bigger…. It is the next number you say etc.
Using household items make 2 groups of objects, get your child to count each group then talk about which one has more in it.
Move onto the sheet which is all about what number comes next. (1 more than). If your child is struggling then explain to them that they need to count up to the number in their head, and then think about which number comes next. I have attached a number line for visual support if your child is struggling with this concept. Again, let them try this themselves and make notes on their progress so we can follow up in school.

Tuesday 12th January 2021
Hello children,
Today we will be starting our traditional tales work in literacy.
A traditional tale is a story that has been told and re-told for many years, and consequently, becomes a story that almost everyone knows. Traditional tales are also referred to as fairy stories or fairy tales. Stories such as Cinderella, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Jack and the Beanstalk are all traditional stories.
In Numeracy, we will be ordering numbers up to 5. Then if we have got those in the correct order we will be challenged with ordering the numbers up to 10. If your child is struggling, please write it on the sheets so we can work on this 1-1 when we get back to school – don’t just do it for them or tell them the answers as this will prevent them making the best progress possible J
-
-
- Literacy – Story Sequencing – Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.
-
With your child, read the online story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears (see link for online story if you do not have a hardcopy of the book at home Traditionaltales (communication4all.co.uk)). Then get your child to cut out the pictures and stick them in the correct order. Use lots of talk and encourage your child to tell you what is happening in the story. You could use key vocabulary such as; What is happening at the beginning? What is happening in the middle? What is happening at the end?
-
- Numeracy – Ordering numbers up to 5 and then 10.
Start with the online video to help children remember the orders of the numbers, before working through the activity sheet.
School Radio – Counting songs, Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer (bbc.co.uk)
-
- Topic – PE
Try and get yourself dressed into your PE kit completely independently…. Without mam and dad & Check out the link that we will be doing in class:

Welcome Back – Autumn 2
Hello there 👋🏼
We hope you have had a wonderful half term break! The children have chosen their topic for the next 7 weeks and it is going to be ‘Transport’. We are going to be looking at the different ways we make journeys near and far. The children have been fascinated with garages so our role play area is now a car garage where the mechanics get to work fixing and solving problems. So if anyone needs some air for a flat tyre, we know just the place! 😉
Happy Halloween 2020

Our Virtual Harvest Festival
Bike Ability with Coach Darren 🚲
Today some of our friends in class 1 were chosen to work with coach Darren on the balance bikes. We practised getting on and off the bike safely, learned about the safety equipment needed when riding a bike and practised balance and coordination skills when moving on the bikes. Those who weren’t picked for this event, do not worry as you will be picked for another later in the year! 😊
Our first day 🙌🏼
Today was our first day back to school and for some of us our first ever visit to our new classroom after leaving pre-school. Mrs Morton & Mrs Plant were sooo proud of how well we settled in and were even prouder of the way we followed instructions, listened carefully and used our manners in school! As always our year 1 children who are in the class were impeccable role models to the younger children and they were so happy to be back in their familiar learning environment after a lot of unpredicted changes seen within the previous summer term.
Here are some of our highlights from the day 😁
Welcome Back 👋🏼
Hello everyone, and welcome to the new school year. Class 1 are so excited to welcome some of our new members as well as re-join with some of our year 1 children. Our topic for this half term is ‘Marvellous Me’… Here is what our indoor learning environment looks like! We can’t wait to learn and explore with our friends 😁
