Chair of Governors – Mr A O’Roarty

I am the Chair of governors here at Nettlesworth Primary School.

I am an ex pupil of the school and my two sons also attend the school.  I have lived in the community for 33 years and proud to act as a governor at a school which is close to my heart.

Since joining the governors team here at Nettlesworth I have seen the school go from strength to strength.  It is a very exciting time at the school and I’ve seen it develop so well and achieve some fantastic awards and recognition.  The school offers a very friendly and safe learning environment with a family feel to it.

My current roles within the Governing body are:

Chair of Governors with responsibility for chairing full Governing Body meetings.

Headteacher Performance Management Committee which has responsibility for overseeing the performance of the head teacher on an annual basis.  This includes working with a local authority representative to set annual targets and review progress towards these targets.

Personnel Committee which has responsibility for overseeing all issues to do with staffing in school, including making appointments, and reviewing performance management policy for all staff.

Appeals Committee which has responsibility for considering any appeal made by a member of staff against a decision made under the personnel procedures adopted by the governing body.
