Well done to Erica and Lexi who last night took their first Brownie Pledge. They both look very proud of themselves.
Physical Fantastical Field of Fun opening day
Monday 2nd October saw the opening of our new fantastic playground extension on our school field. After many months of planning and choosing equipment (not to mention voting for the right name for the area) we were finally able to explore and try out all of the new equipment.
Lots of people turned up to help us celebrate including representatives from our parent group, Governors and our local councillor.
Our sports leaders and playground buddies acted as teachers showing children how to correctly use the equipment and the event was officially opened by the youngest (Matthew) and oldest (Molly) children in school with a special speech from our young Sports Ambassador Mackenzie. Everyone had a fab time and cant wait to use the area next playtime.

*** EYFS Outdoor Construction Area ****
Tuesday 10th May 2017
Miss Grant and Class 1 have recently been working with Rainton Construction, the director of The MGL Group and Northern Gas Networks to provide an outdoor ‘Construction’ Area for the children in EYFS. It has been a fantastic opportunity to develop the outdoor provision here at Nettlesworth Primary School, making links with the wider community and providing the children with a say in resources they aspire to have in their garden.
Yesterday, Class 1 opened their brand new outdoor Construction Area and the children had lots of fun playing with the new resources! Huge thanks to Gillian and the team for all of the amazing resources they have helped provide, we couldn’t have done it without you all! 🙂
Hatching Chicks
9th May 2017
We are now half way into hatching our very own chicks in Class 1. Everyday the helping hands in Class 1 turn the eggs 3 times, morning afternoon and home time, to make sure there are no air pockets inside of the eggs. The children also check that the incubator is always working at 37.5 degrees and the light is flashing. Hopefully when the full 21 days are up we can put 4 healthy chicks into our brooder…. That’s if Miss Grant doesn’t get too attached at the weekend when they visit her house 🙂
Red Nose Day 2017
Thank you to everyone who helped to support our annual fundraising event. We all wore red, showed off our talents and had a lot of fun. We raised a grand total of £91.30p!!!
EYFS & KS1 Easter Puppet Show
We had lots of fun watching the puppet show telling us all about the Easter story of how Jesus was crucified and then miraculously rose from the tomb. Thank you to the All Saints Church In Durham for putting on a fantastic performance.
