Coffee Morning at Nettlesworth Community Centre

Sodancethonlottery 004me of the Rights Respecting Council ran a Fairtrade stall at the Community Centre Coffee Morning. the children raised £19.60. Thankyou for your continued support.

Mikaella and Jamie from the Rights Respecting Council also were involved in a meeting with Cestria Housing, Councillor Liddle, Rev Caroline, Donna Bruce (Kimblesworth and Nettlesworth Task Force) and Galiford-Try (Housing Developers) about the development of a School/Community Fairtrade Shop.

Nettlesworth’s got Talent!

This morning, in assembly, each class showed a performance to the rest of the school that they have worked on during the past half term.

Class 1 showed their ‘Firework’ dance. Each child chose their own move then they linked them altogether to create a dance.

Class 2 performed a dance to the Madness hit “Our House” which they had worked on during their PE unit called “Something Funny”

Class 3 showed us their Skipping dance that they will soon be performing at the Skipping Festival.

Class 4 showed their Alice in Wonderland plays that they have written this half term – they portrayed different parts of the story. They made us laugh!

Infant Agility

Year 1 and 2 children attended Infant Agility sporting event at Park View school on Thursday 12th March. The children went with Miss Gordon and Mrs Gallacher and had lots of fun.

Emily and Rhianna, Year 1 children wrote a report on their lovely afternoon.

We went jumping over the blue cones. We had to bounce the ball and clap and throw it up and clap 2 times. We did running. We ran on the spot. We did a long jump. We had fun.

Fairtrade Fortnight Tuck Shop

The Rights Respecting Council worked hard with the breakfast club in preparing fairtrade snacks to end our fortnight of fairtrade work. Thankyou so much for your support in helping to raise money for Right Respecting funds which are used to donate to various charites throughout the year

Alice in Wonderland

Years 5/6 have written plays based on scenes from Alice in Wonderland. The children have rehearsed and refined their scripts before combining them all into whole class performances.

The children have also researched information for a biography of Lewis Carroll which they have included in a theatre programme for a production of the plays they have written.

Bikeability Training

Years 5 and 6 have been learning how to ride a bike safely on the road and keep their bikes in good working order with Durham County Council’s bikeability scheme.  They have achieved level 1 and are working hard to progress to level 2.

Dobbies Garden Centre Visit

Class 1 enjoyed their time at Dobbies Garden Centre in Birtley with Meg and Christine. They had lots of fun planting beans, meeting the snakes and designing a cup cake! Big thanks to the staff at Dobbies for making us feel welcome and making our afternoon wonderful! The children were so well behaved and cant wait to have another visit soon!

First Aid

Destination Judo

On Monday 23rd February the whole school took part in Destination Judo.

We all had lots of fun working with Glyn and learnt lots of new Judo moves!
